You’ll be concerned to hear that thousands of vulnerable students across Juja constituency face uncertainty over reporting back to school this term, due to financial constraints facing their parents who rely on bursaries to pay fees.

Juja MP George Koimburi has urged the government to fast track the release of funds owed to constituencies, to go towards bursaries for these needy students.

Speaking during a bursary forms issuance exercise at Nyacaba Secondary School on [date], Koimburi lamented that the government has not disbursed the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty since July 2022.

NG-CDF Funds Critical for Vulnerable Students

This concerning situation threatens the learning of thousands across Juja, as without the NG-CDF bursaries, many vulnerable students would likely fail to report back to school this term due to lack of fees.

Koimburi stated: “We are urging the government to expedite the release of the NG-CDF kitty to enable us to facilitate the education of children from poor backgrounds through bursaries. It is sad that some may fail to report to school due to lack of fees.”

He maintained that education is key for the future development of any nation, giving people opportunity to progress in life. As such, it should be accessible to all — especially the vulnerable and financially constrained.

Thousands Turn Up for Bursary Forms Despite Lack of Funds

Despite the lack of bursary funds to distribute currently, thousands of needy students and parents turned up at Nyacaba Secondary School to collect the vital bursary application forms.

This demonstrates the sheer breadth of financial need across Juja, and how critical the NG-CDF bursaries are for enabling vulnerable students to access education.

Koimburi regretted that although bursary forms are being issued, there is currently no money to actually give out to applicants, with NG-CDF accounts having run dry since July 2022.

Urgent Call for Government to Release NG-CDF Funds

Koimburi has made an urgent call for the government to take this matter seriously and release the owed NG-CDF funds for bursaries without further delay.

As the Juja MP stressed, education equates people in society and is vital for the future progress of vulnerable youth. If funds are not released urgently, thousands of bright, deserving students across Juja could miss out on schooling altogether.

The government must act now on this funding crisis to avert an escalating situation that would deprive so many young people of educational opportunity. Education is a human right that should be protected.

The Juja MP will continue urging action on this urgent funding issue until it is resolved, so that bursary funds can be distributed to financially needy students across the constituency, giving them the helping hand they need to continue their schooling this term.
